He entered upon Anas bin Malik at his home in Basrah after returning from the Zuhr prayer. His house was next to the mosque.When we came in to see him, Anas asked, "Have you prayed Asr?"We replied, "We have only just returned from praying Zuhr."He said, "Then pray Asr."So we stood and prayed. When we finished, he said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'That is the prayer of the hypocrite. He sits watching the sun, and when it is between the two horns of Satan, he stands and pecks out four units, remembering Allah but little in them.'"
و حدثنا يحيى بن أيوب ومحمد بن الصباح وقتيبة وابن حجر قالوا حدثنا إسمعيل بن جعفر
أنه دخل على أنس بن مالك في داره بالبصرة حين انصرف من الظهر وداره بجنب المسجد فلما دخلنا عليه قال أصليتم العصر فقلنا له إنما انصرفنا الساعة من الظهر قال فصلوا العصر فقمنا فصلينا فلما انصرفنا قال سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول تلك صلاة المنافق يجلس يرقب الشمس حتى إذا كانت بين قرني الشيطان قام فنقرها أربعا لا يذكر الله فيها إلا قليلا
