Uthman bin Affan intended to rebuild the mosque, but the people disliked this and wished for him to leave it in its original state.He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah, Allah will build for him the like of it in Paradise.'"
