Malik reported,

It reached him that whenever Salim bin Abdullah intended to enter the state of ihram, he would call for the shears and trim his moustache and clip some of his beard before mounting his camel and before raising his voice in the pilgrim's call as one in ihram.

أنه بلغه أن سالم بن عبد الله كان إذا أراد أن يحرم دعا بالجلمين فقص شاربه وأخذ من لحيته قبل أن يركب وقبل أن يهل محرما
