Abdul-Malik bin Marwan entered the state of consecration for pilgrimage at the masjid of Dhul-Hulayfa, once his mount had risen up straight beneath him, and it was Abban bin Uthman who advised him to do so.

أن عبد الملك بن مروان أهل من عند مسجد ذي الخليفة، حين استوت به راحلته، وأن أبان بن عثمان أشار عليه بذلك.
