The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went off to relieve himself during the expedition to Tabuk. Mughira said, "I went with him carrying water. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came back, I poured the water for him and he washed his face. Then he tried to draw his arms out of the sleeves of his cloak, but he could not because the sleeves were too narrow, so he pulled them out from underneath the cloak. He washed his arms, wiped his head, and wiped over his leather socks."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to the people and found Abdul-Rahman bin Awf leading them in prayer, having already completed one rakat with them. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the remaining rakat along with them, and the people were alarmed. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished, he said, 'You did well.'"
حدثني يحيى عن مالك عن ابن شهاب عن عباد بن زياد من ولد المغيرة بن شعبة عن أبيه
أن رسول الله ﷺ ذهب لحاجته في غزوة تبوك قال المغيرة فذهبت معه بماء فجاء رسول الله ﷺ فسكبت عليه الماء فغسل وجهه ثم ذهب يخرج يديه من كمي جبته فلم يستطع من ضيق كمي الجبة فأخرجهما من تحت الجبة فغسل يديه ومسح برأسه ومسح على الخفين فجاء رسول الله ﷺ وعبد الرحمن بن عوف يؤمهم وقد صلى بهم ركعة فصلى رسول الله ﷺ الركعة التي بقيت عليهم ففزع الناس فلما قضى رسول الله ﷺ قال أحسنتم
