The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out for Makkah in Ramadan during the year of the Conquest. He fasted until he reached Kadid, then he broke his fast, and the people broke their fasts as well. They would always follow the most recent of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ instructions.
حدثني يحيى عن مالك عن ابن شهاب عن عبيد الله بن عبد الله بن عتبة بن مسعود
أن رسول الله ﷺ خرج إلى مكة عام الفتح في رمضان فصام حتى بلغ الكديد ثم أفطر فأفطر الناس وكانوا يأخذون بالأحدث فالأحدث من أمر رسول الله ﷺ
