Uthman bin Affan was sitting on the benches when the caller to prayer came and informed him that it was time for the Asr prayer. He called for water and performed ablution, then said, "By Allah, I am going to tell you a hadith that I would never have told you were it not confirmed in the Book of Allah."Then he said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'There is no man who performs his ablution well and then prays a prayer but that he is forgiven everything between it and the next prayer, until he prays that one.'"
و حدثني عن مالك عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
أن عثمان بن عفان جلس على المقاعد فجاء المؤذن فآذنه بصلاة العصر فدعا بماء فتوضأ ثم قال والله لأحدثنكم حديثا لولا أنه في كتاب الله ما حدثتكموه ثم قال سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول ما من امرئ يتوضأ فيحسن وضوءه ثم يصلي الصلاة إلا غفر له ما بينه وبين الصلاة الأخرى حتى يصليها.
