It was mentioned to her that Abdullah bin Umar used to say that the dead are punished because of the weeping of the living.Ayesha said, "May Allah forgive Abu Abdul-Rahman. He did not lie, but he forgot, or he was mistaken. What happened was that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a Jewish woman whose family were weeping over her, and he said, 'You are weeping over her while she is being punished in her grave.'"
و حدثني عن مالك عن عبد الله بن أبي بكر عن أبيه عن عمرة بنت عبد الرحمن أنها أخبرته أنها
وذكر لها أن عبد الله بن عمر يقول إن الميت ليعذب ببكاء الحي فقالت عائشة يغفر الله لأبي عبد الرحمن أما إنه لم يكذب ولكنه نسي أو أخطأ إنما مر رسول الله ﷺ بيهودية يبكي عليها أهلها فقال إنكم لتبكون عليها وإنها لتعذب في قبرها
