Umar bin Khattab recited a verse of sajdah while he was on the pulpit on a Friday, so he came down and prostrated, and the people prostrated along with him. Then he recited it again the following Friday, and the people made themselves ready to prostrate. He said, "Take it easy. Allah has not made it obligatory upon us unless we choose to do it."So he did not prostrate, and he prevented them from prostrating.
