Muhammad bin Sirin reported,

Umar bin Khattab was among a group of people who were reciting the Quran. He left to relieve himself, then came back reciting the Quran.A man said to him, "Commander of the Faithful, are you reciting the Quran when you are not in a state of wudu?"Umar replied, "Who gave you that ruling? Was it Musaylimah?"

أن عمر بن الخطاب كان في قوم وهم يقرءون القرآن فذهب لحاجته ثم رجع وهو يقرأ القرآن فقال له رجل يا أمير المؤمنين أتقرأ القرآن ولست على وضوء فقال له عمر من أفتاك بهذا أمسيلمة
