One of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the masjid on Friday while Umar bin Khattab was delivering the sermon. Umar asked, "What hour is this to arrive?"The man replied, "Commander of the Faithful, I was on my way back from the market when I heard the call, and I did no more than perform wudu."Umar said, "Only wudu as well? You know perfectly well that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command ghusl."
و حدثني عن مالك عن ابن شهاب
دخل رجل من أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ المسجد يوم الجمعة وعمر بن الخطاب يخطب فقال عمر أية ساعة هذه فقال يا أمير المؤمنين انقلبت من السوق فسمعت النداء فما زدت على أن توضأت فقال عمر والوضوء أيضا وقد علمت أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يأمر بالغسل
