The Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished a prayer in which he had recited aloud and asked, "Did any of you just now recite along with me?"A man said, "Yes, I did, Messenger of Allah."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I was saying to myself, why am I being contended with over the Quran?"So when the people heard this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, they stopped reciting along with him in the prayers in which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited aloud.
و حدثني يحيى عن مالك عن ابن شهاب عن ابن أكيمة الليثي
أن رسول الله ﷺ انصرف من صلاة جهر فيها بالقراءة فقال هل قرأ معي منكم أحد آنفا فقال رجل نعم أنا يا رسول الله قال فقال رسول الله ﷺ إني أقول ما لي أنازع القرآن فانتهى الناس عن القراءة مع رسول الله ﷺ فيما جهر فيه رسول الله ﷺ بالقراءة حين سمعوا ذلك من رسول الله ﷺ
