The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called out to Ubayy bin Kaab while he was praying. When Ubayy finished his prayer, he caught up with him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his hand upon Ubayy's hand as he was about to step out of the door of the masjid.He said, "I hope you will not leave this masjid until you have learned a surah the like of which Allah has revealed neither in the Torah, nor in the Gospel, nor in the Quran."Ubayy said, "So I began to walk slowly, hoping for that. Then I said, 'Messenger of Allah, the surah you promised me.'"The Prophet ﷺ asked, "How do you recite when you begin the prayer?"Ubayy said, "So I recited, 'Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds' [Fatihah 1:2], until I reached the end of it."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is this surah. It is the seven oft-repeated verses and the mighty Quran that I have been given."
حدثني يحيى عن مالك عن العلاء بن عبد الرحمن بن يعقوب أن
أن رسول الله ﷺ نادى أبي بن كعب وهو يصلي فلما فرغ من صلاته لحقه فوضع رسول الله ﷺ يده على يده وهو يريد أن يخرج من باب المسجد فقال إني لأرجو أن لا تخرج من المسجد حتى تعلم سورة ما أنزل الله في التوراة ولا في الإنجيل ولا في القرآن مثلها قال أبي فجعلت أبطئ في المشي رجاء ذلك ثم قلت يا رسول الله السورة التي وعدتني قال كيف تقرأ إذا افتتحت الصلاة قال فقرأت الحمد لله رب العالمين حتى أتيت على آخرها فقال رسول الله ﷺ هي هذه السورة وهي السبع المثاني والقرآن العظيم الذي أعطيت
