Sulayman bin Yasar reported,

A slave who had been set free with no patron, freed by one of the pilgrims, killed the son of a man from Banu Aaidh. The Aaidhi, the father of the slain boy, came to Umar bin Khattab seeking the blood money for his son.Umar said, "There is no blood money for him."The Aaidhi said, "Tell me, what if my son had been the one who killed him?"Umar replied, "Then you would have had to pay his blood money."The man said, "Then he is like the arqam snake. If it is left alone it devours, and if it is killed vengeance is exacted for it."
