He asked Ibn Shihab about a one-eyed man who gouges out the eye of a man with sound sight. Ibn Shihab replied, "If the man with sound sight wishes to take retaliation from him, he is entitled to retaliation, and if he prefers, he is entitled to the blood money, one thousand dinar or twelve thousand dirham."

أنه سأل ابن شهاب عن الرجل الأعور يفقأ عين الصحيح فقال ابن شهاب إن أحب الصحيح أن يستقيد منه فله القود وإن أحب فله الدية ألف دينار أو اثنا عشر ألف درهم
