Some men from Iraq said to him, "Abu Abdul-Rahman, we buy the fruit of date palms and grapes, press them into wine, and then sell it."Abdullah bin Umar replied, "I call Allah to witness against you, and His angels, and whoever among the jinn and mankind hears me, that I do not instruct you to sell it, nor to buy it, nor to press it, nor to drink it, nor to give it to others to drink. It is filth, the work of Satan."
و حدثني عن مالك عن نافع
أن رجالا من أهل العراق قالوا له يا أبا عبد الرحمن إنا نبتاع من ثمر النخل والعنب فنعصره خمرا فنبيعها فقال عبد الله بن عمر إني أشهد الله عليكم وملائكته ومن سمع من الجن والإنس أني لا آمركم أن تبيعوها ولا تبتاعوها ولا تعصروها ولا تشربوها ولا تسقوها فإنها رجس من عمل الشيطان
