Barirah came to Ayesha, Umm Muiminin, seeking her help. Ayesha said, "If your masters would like me to pay them your price in a single sum and set you free, I will do so."Barirah mentioned this to her masters, and they said, "No, unless the right of inheritance over her belongs to us."Yahya bin Saeed said that Amra reported that Ayesha mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Buy her and set her free, for the right of inheritance belongs only to the one who frees the slave."

أن بريرة جاءت تستعين عائشة أم المؤمنين فقالت عائشة إن أحب أهلك أن أصب لهم ثمنك صبة واحدة وأعتقك فعلت فذكرت ذلك بريرة لأهلها فقالوا لا إلا أن يكون لنا ولاؤك قال يحيى بن سعيد فزعمت عمرة أن عائشة ذكرت ذلك لرسول الله ﷺ فقال رسول الله ﷺ اشتريها وأعتقيها فإنما الولاء لمن أعتق
