Saad bin Ubada went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his military expeditions, and while he was away his mother's death approached her in Madinah. She was told, "Make your will."She replied, "What should I bequeath? The property is Saad's property."She passed away before Saad returned. When Saad bin Ubada came back, the matter was mentioned to him.Saad asked, "Messenger of Allah, would it benefit her if I gave charity on her behalf?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ answered, "Yes."So Saad said, "Such and such a garden is charity on her behalf," naming a particular garden.

خرج سعد بن عبادة مع رسول الله ﷺ في بعض مغازيه فحضرت أمه الوفاة بالمدينة فقيل لها أوصي فقالت فيم أوصي إنما المال مال سعد فتوفيت قبل أن يقدم سعد فلما قدم سعد بن عبادة ذكر ذلك له فقال سعد يا رسول الله هل ينفعها أن أتصدق عنها فقال رسول الله ﷺ نعم فقال سعد حائط كذا وكذا صدقة عنها لحائط سماه
