Sunin Abu Jameela, a man from the tribe of Banu Sulaym, reported that he found an abandoned infant during the time of Umar bin Khattab. He said, "I brought the child to Umar bin Khattab."Umar asked, "What made you pick up this little soul?"He replied, "I found it abandoned, so I took it."The chief of his group said, "Commander of the Faithful, he is a righteous man."Umar asked him, "Is that so?"He said, "Yes."Then Umar bin Khattab said, "Go, the child is free, the right of patronage over him is yours, and his maintenance is our responsibility."
قال يحيى قال مالك
عن سنين أبي جميلة رجل من بني سليم أنه وجد منبوذا في زمان عمر بن الخطاب قال فجئت به إلى عمر بن الخطاب فقال ما حملك على أخذ هذه النسمة فقال وجدتها ضائعة فأخذتها فقال له عريفه يا أمير المؤمنين إنه رجل صالح فقال له عمر أكذلك قال نعم فقال عمر بن الخطاب اذهب فهو حر ولك ولاؤه وعلينا نفقته
