Ubayd Abu Salih reported,

I sold some cloth of mine to people of Dar Nakhlah on credit, to be paid at a set date. Then I wanted to travel to Kufa, so they proposed that I drop part of the price and they would pay me at once in cash. I asked Zayd bin Thabit about this, and he said, "I will not tell you to consume this, nor to feed it to anyone else."

حدثني يحيى عن مالك عن أبي الزناد عن بسر بن سعيد

عن عبيد أبي صالح مولى السفاح أنه قال

بعت بزا لي من أهل دار نخلة إلى أجل ثم أردت الخروج إلى الكوفة فعرضوا علي أن أضع عنهم بعض الثمن وينقدوني فسألت عن ذلك زيد بن ثابت فقال لا آمرك أن تأكل هذا ولا توكله
