A woman experienced continuous bleeding during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so Umm Salama sought a ruling for her from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.He said, "Let her consider the number of nights and days of the month during which she used to menstruate before this condition came upon her, and let her leave off praying for that portion of the month. When that period has passed, let her bathe, then bind herself with a cloth, and then pray."

أن امرأة كانت تهراق الدماء في عهد رسول الله ﷺ فاستفتت لها أم سلمة رسول الله ﷺ فقال لتنظر إلى عدد الليالي والأيام التي كانت تحيضهن من الشهر قبل أن يصيبها الذي أصابها فلتترك الصلاة قدر ذلك من الشهر فإذا خلفت ذلك فلتغتسل ثم لتستثفر بثوب ثم لتصلي
