The sale of a live animal for meat was prohibited.Abu Zinad said, "I asked Saeed bin Musayab, 'What do you think of a man who buys an old she-camel for ten sheep?'"Saeed replied, "If he bought her in order to slaughter her, there is nothing good in that."Abu Zinad added, "Everyone I met among the people used to forbid the sale of a live animal for meat." He also said, "In the time of Abban bin Uthman and Hisham bin Ismail, this was written into the commissions issued to the officials, forbidding them from that practice."
و حدثني عن مالك عن أبي الزناد
نهي عن بيع الحيوان باللحم قال أبو الزناد فقلت لسعيد بن المسيب أرأيت رجلا اشترى شارفا بعشرة شياه فقال سعيد إن كان اشتراها لينحرها فلا خير في ذلك قال أبو الزناد وكل من أدركت من الناس ينهون عن بيع الحيوان باللحم قال أبو الزناد وكان ذلك يكتب في عهود العمال في زمان أبان بن عثمان وهشام بن إسمعيل ينهون عن ذلك
