Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abu Maryam reported,

He asked Saeed bin Musayab, saying, "I am a man who buys foodstuff by means of the written vouchers at Jar. Sometimes I buy from him for a dinar and half a dirham, and I hand over food in place of the half."Saeed replied, "No. Rather, you should pay a full dirham and take the remainder in food."

أنه سأل سعيد بن المسيب فقال إني رجل أبتاع الطعام يكون من الصكوك بالجار فربما ابتعت منه بدينار ونصف درهم فأعطى بالنصف طعاما فقال سعيد لا ولكن أعط أنت درهما وخذ بقيته طعاما
