Ibn Shihab reported,

Malik bin Aws bin Hadathan Nasri said that he was looking to exchange a hundred dinars. He said, "Talha bin Ubaydullah called me over, and we negotiated until he agreed to make the exchange with me. He took the gold and kept turning it over in his hand, then he said, 'Wait until my treasurer comes to me from Ghabah.'"Umar bin Khattab was listening, and he said, "By Allah, do not part from him until you have taken your due from him."Then Umar said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Gold for silver is usury unless it is hand to hand. Wheat for wheat is usury unless it is hand to hand. Dates for dates is usury unless it is hand to hand. Barley for barley is usury unless it is hand to hand.'"
