The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Dates for dates, like for like."Someone said to him, "Your agent in Khaybar is taking one measure in exchange for two."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Call him to me."The man was summoned, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him, "Are you taking one measure for two?"He replied, "Messenger of Allah, they will not sell me fine dates for mixed dates, measure for measure."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told him, "Sell the mixed dates for silver coins, then use the coins to buy fine dates."
حدثني يحيى عن مالك عن زيد بن أسلم
قال رسول الله ﷺ التمر بالتمر مثلا بمثل فقيل له إن عاملك على خيبر يأخذ الصاع بالصاعين فقال رسول الله ﷺ ادعوه لي فدعي له فقال له رسول الله ﷺ أتأخذ الصاع بالصاعين فقال يا رسول الله لا يبيعونني الجنيب بالجمع صاعا بصاع فقال له رسول الله ﷺ بع الجمع بالدراهم ثم ابتع بالدراهم جنيبا
