Damra bin Saeed Mazini reported,

Hajjaj bin Amr bin Ghaziyya reported that he was sitting with Zayd bin Thabit when Ibn Qahd, a man from Yemen, came to him and said, "Abu Saeed, I have slave girls of mine, and none of my wives please me more than they do, but I do not wish all of them to bear children by me. May I practice withdrawal?"Zayd bin Thabit said, "Give him the answer, Hajjaj."Hajjaj said, "I replied, 'May Allah forgive you. We only sit with you to learn from you.'"Zayd said, "Give him the answer."So Hajjaj said, "She is your tillage. If you wish, water it, and if you wish, leave it thirsty." Hajjaj added that he had heard this very thing from Zayd.Zayd then said, "He has spoken the truth."

عن ضمرة بن سعيد المازني

عن الحجاج بن عمرو بن غزية أنه كان جالسا عند زيد بن ثابت فجاءه ابن قهد رجل من أهل اليمن فقال يا أبا سعيد إن عندي جواري لي ليس نسائي اللاتي أكن بأعجب إلي منهن وليس كلهن يعجبني أن تحمل مني أفأعزل فقال زيد بن ثابت أفته يا حجاج قال فقلت يغفر الله لك إنما نجلس عندك لنتعلم منك قال أفته قال فقلت هو حرثك إن شئت سقيته وإن شئت أعطشته قال وكنت أسمع ذلك من زيد فقال زيد صدق
