I used to see a carpet belonging to Aqeel bin Abu Talib spread out beside the western wall of the masjid on Fridays, and when the shade of the wall had covered the whole carpet, Umar bin Khattab would come out and lead the Friday prayer. Then, after the Friday prayer, we would go back and take our midmorning rest.

كنت أرى طنفسة لعقيل بن أبي طالب يوم الجمعة تطرح إلى جدار المسجد الغربي فإذا غشي الطنفسة كلها ظل الجدار خرج عمر بن الخطاب وصلى الجمعة ثم رجع بعد صلاة الجمعة فنقيل قائلة الضحاء
