Rubayyi bint Muawwidh bin Afra came with her paternal uncle to Abdullah bin Umar and told him that she had obtained a divorce from her husband by compensation during the time of Uthman bin Affan. Word of this reached Uthman bin Affan, and he did not object to it. Abdullah bin Umar said, "Her waiting period is the same as the waiting period of a divorced woman."

أن ربيع بنت معوذ بن عفراء جاءت هي وعمها إلى عبد الله بن عمر فأخبرته أنها اختلعت من زوجها في زمان عثمان بن عفان فبلغ ذلك عثمان بن عفان فلم ينكره وقال عبد الله بن عمر عدتها عدة المطلقة
