Malik reported,

Someone wrote to Umar bin Khattab from Iraq that a man had said to his wife, "Your rope is on your withers."Umar bin Khattab wrote back to his governor, "Order him to come and meet me at Makkah during the pilgrimage season."While Umar was making tawaf around the House, the man came upon him and greeted him.Umar asked, "Who are you?"The man replied, "I am the one you ordered to be brought to you."Umar said to him, "I ask you by the Lord of this structure, what did you intend by your words, 'Your rope is on your withers'?"The man answered, "Had you put me under oath anywhere but this place, I would not have told you the truth. By it I intended separation."Umar bin Khattab said, "It is as you intended."

عن مالك، أنه بلغه

أنه كتب إلى عمر بن الخطاب من العراق: أن رجلا قال لامرأته: حبلك على غاربك؛ فكتب عمر بن الخطاب إلى عامله: أن مره فليوافني بمكة في الموسم. فبينما عمر يطوف بالبيت، إذ لقيه الرجل، فسلم عليه، فقال عمر: من أنت؟ فقال: أنا الذي أمرت أن أجلب عليك. فقال له عمر: أسألك برب هذه البنية! ما أردت بقولك حبلك على غاربك؟ فقال له الرجل: لو استحلفتني في غير هذا المكان، ما صدقتك! أردت بذلك الفراق. فقال عمر بن الخطاب: هو ما أردت.
