A man asked Uthman bin Affan about two sisters owned as slaves, whether a man may have relations with both of them. Uthman replied, "One verse has permitted them and another verse has forbidden them. As for myself, I would not like to do that."The man then left him and met one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him about it.He said, "If I had any authority in the matter and then found anyone doing that, I would make an example of him."Ibn Shihab said, "I believe he was Ali bin Abu Talib."
