Malik reported,

Qasim bin Muhammad was asked about a man who had irrevocably divorced his wife, after which another man married her but died before consummating the marriage with her. Was it lawful for her first husband to take her back?Qasim bin Muhammad replied, "It is not lawful for her first husband to take her back."

أن القاسم بن محمد، سئل عن رجل طلق امرأته البتة، ثم تزوجها بعده رجل آخر، فمات عنها قبل أن يمسها: هل يحل لزوجها الأول أن يراجعها؟ فقال القاسم بن محمد: لا يحل لزوجها الأول أن يراجعها.
