Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Hurairah asked Abdullah bin Umar about what the sea casts up, and he forbade him from eating it.Nafi said, Abdullah then went home and called for the Quran, and he read, "Lawful to you is what you catch from the sea and what it provides as food" [Maidah 5:96].Nafi continued, so Abdullah bin Umar sent me to Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Hurairah to tell him that there was no harm in eating it.
و حدثني يحيى عن مالك
أن عبد الرحمن بن أبي هريرة سأل عبد الله بن عمر عما لفظ البحر فنهاه عن أكله قال نافع ثم انقلب عبد الله فدعا بالمصحف فقرأ {أحل لكم صيد البحر وطعامه} قال نافع فأرسلني عبد الله بن عمر إلى عبد الرحمن بن أبي هريرة إنه لا بأس بأكله
