Abdullah bin Umar once offered a sacrifice in Madinah. Nafi said, "He instructed me to buy him a sturdy horned ram and then to slaughter it on the day of sacrifice at the place where the people held their prayer."Nafi continued, "So I did that, and the animal was then carried to Abdullah bin Umar. He shaved his head at the time the ram was slaughtered. He was ill and had not attended the Eid prayer with the people."Nafi added, "Abdullah bin Umar used to say that shaving the head is not obligatory for anyone who offers a sacrifice, though Ibn Umar himself did it."
