Bara bin Azib reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked what should be avoided in sacrificial animals. He gestured with his hand and said, "Four." Bara used to gesture with his own hand and say, "My hand is shorter than the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." The four are, the lame animal whose limp is obvious, the one-eyed animal whose defect is obvious, the sick animal whose illness is obvious, and the emaciated animal that has no marrow in its bones.
