Yahya bin Saeed reported,

I had vowed to make the journey on foot, but I was struck by a pain in my side, so I rode until I reached Makkah. I asked Ata bin Abu Rabah and others about it, and they said, "You owe a sacrificial animal."Then, when I came to Madinah, I asked its scholars, and they instructed me to walk the journey again, starting from the point where I had been unable to continue. So I walked it.

و حدثني عن مالك

عن يحيى بن سعيد أنه قال

كان علي مشي فأصابتني خاصرة فركبت حتى أتيت مكة فسألت عطاء بن أبي رباح وغيره فقالوا عليك هدي فلما قدمت المدينة سألت علماءها فأمروني أن أمشي مرة أخرى من حيث عجزت فمشيت
