The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were it not that I would impose hardship on my community, I would love never to stay behind from any expedition setting out in the path of Allah. But I do not have the means to provide mounts for them, nor do they have the means to mount themselves and go out, and it grieves them to remain behind when I have gone. So I wish that I could fight in the path of Allah and be killed, then be brought to life and be killed, then be brought to life and be killed."
و حدثني عن مالك عن يحيى بن سعيد عن أبي صالح السمان
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لولا أن أشق على أمتي لأحببت أن لا أتخلف عن سرية تخرج في سبيل الله ولكني لا أجد ما أحملهم عليه ولا يجدون ما يتحملون عليه فيخرجون ويشق عليهم أن يتخلفوا بعدي فوددت أني أقاتل في سبيل الله فأقتل ثم أحيا فأقتل ثم أحيا فأقتل
