Malik reported,

He reported that it had reached him from the people of knowledge that they used to say, those martyred in the way of Allah are not washed, nor is the funeral prayer offered over any of them, and they are buried in the clothes in which they were killed.Malik said, "That is the sunnah regarding anyone killed in the thick of battle, who was not reached alive but died there."

عن مالك

أنه بلغه عن أهل العلم: أنهم كانوا يقولون: الشهداء في سبيل الله لا يغسلون، ولا يصلى على أحد منهم، وإنهم يدفنون في الثياب التي قتلوا فيها. قال مالك: وتلك السنة فيمن قتل في المعترك، فلم يدرك حتى مات.
