Abdullah bin Masud reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I declare myself free of every close friendship. Were I to take anyone as an intimate friend, I would have taken Abu Bakr as my intimate friend. Indeed, your companion is the intimate friend of Allah."Waki said, "He meant himself."

عن عبد الله قال

قال رسول الله ﷺ ألا إني أبرأ إلى كل خليل من خلته ولو كنت متخذا خليلا لاتخذت أبا بكر خليلا إن صاحبكم خليل الله قال وكيع يعني نفسه
