The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to give the salutation to his right and to his left until the whiteness of his cheek could be seen, saying, "Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah."
حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن نمير حدثنا عمر بن عبيد عن أبي إسحق عن أبي الأحوص
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يسلم عن يمينه وعن شماله حتى يرى بياض خده السلام عليكم ورحمة الله
[Sahih] Abu Ishaq narrated with "an" without specifying direct hearing, discussed previously, no. 46, and the essence of the hadith is sahih, recorded by Abu Dawud, no. 996, and others, and Tirmidhi, Ibn Khuzayma, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih.
