The Prophet ﷺ led his companions in a prayer which we think was the dawn prayer. He then asked, "Did any of you recite?"A man replied, "I did."He said, "I was wondering why I was being contended with over the Quran."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة وهشام بن عمار قالا حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن الزهري عن ابن أكيمة قال سمعت
صلى النبي ﷺ بأصحابه صلاة نظن أنها الصبح فقال هل قرأ منكم من أحد قال رجل أنا قال إني أقول ما لي أنازع القرآن
[Sahih] Reported by Abu Dawud, Prayer, chapter on those who see reciting when he does not say it aloud, no. 826, from the hadith of Zuhri through this chain. Tirmidhi graded it hasan, no. 312, and Ibn Khuzayma and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih.
