There are two pauses that I memorized from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Imran bin Husayn rejected this, so we wrote to Ubayy bin Kaab in Madinah, and he wrote back that Samura had memorized correctly.Saeed said, We asked Qatada, "What are these two pauses?"He replied, "When he entered his prayer, and when he finished the recitation."Then later he added, "And when he recited 'not of those who have earned anger, nor of those who go astray' [Fatihah 1:7]."He said, They liked, when he finished the recitation, to pause until his breath returned to him.

سكتتان حفظتهما عن رسول الله ﷺ فأنكر ذلك عمران بن الحصين فكتبنا إلى أبي بن كعب بالمدينة فكتب أن سمرة قد حفظ قال سعيد فقلنا لقتادة ما هاتان السكتتان قال إذا دخل في صلاته وإذا فرغ من القراءة ثم قال بعد وإذا قرأ {غير المغضوب عليهم ولا الضالين} قال وكان يعجبهم إذا فرغ من القراءة أن يسكت حتى يتراد إليه نفسه
[Hasan] Reported by Abu Dawud, Book of Prayer, chapter on the pause at the opening, no. 799, 780, from the hadith of Saeed, through this route, and Tirmidhi graded it hasan, no. 251.Hasan's narration from Samura was through a written text, and narration through a written text is sahih according to the majority.
