He led his companions in the evening prayer and made it long for them. So the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Recite 'By the sun and its brightness' [Shams 91:1], 'Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High' [Ala 87:1], 'By the night when it covers' [Layl 92:1], and 'Recite in the name of your Lord' [Alaq 96:1]."
حدثنا محمد بن رمح أنبأنا الليث بن سعد عن أبي الزبير عن جابر أن
صلى بأصحابه العشاء فطول عليهم فقال له النبي ﷺ اقرأ بالشمس وضحاها وسبح اسم ربك الأعلى والليل إذا يغشى واقرأ باسم ربك
