The Prophet ﷺ saw some phlegm on the qiblah wall of the mosque and became so angry that his face turned red. A woman from the Ansar came, scraped it off, and applied perfume in its place. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "How excellent is this!"
حدثنا محمد بن طريف حدثنا عائذ بن حبيب عن حميد
أن النبي ﷺ رأى نخامة في قبلة المسجد فغضب حتى احمر وجهه فجاءته امرأة من الأنصار فحكتها وجعلت مكانها خلوقا فقال رسول الله ﷺ ما أحسن هذا
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Nasai narrated it in 2/52, 53, Chapter on Mosques, Perfuming Mosques, hadith no. 729, from the hadith of Aid, with this wording, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith no. 1296. Humayd Tawil is trustworthy but a mudallis (Taqrib, third rank of the categories of mudallisin), and I did not find an explicit statement of his having heard it directly. Bukhari criticized the hadith in Tarikh al-Kabir, 7/60.
