The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Let the best among you give the call to prayer, and let those most versed in the Quran lead you in prayer."
حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة حدثنا حسين بن عيسى أخو سليم القاري عن الحكم بن أبان عن عكرمة
قال رسول الله ﷺ ليؤذن لكم خياركم وليؤمكم قراؤكم
Sourcing, its chain is daif. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Prayer, chapter on who is most entitled to lead the prayer, hadith no. 590, from Uthman through this chain. Husayn bin Isa is daif, the majority of scholars graded him daif.
