The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were it not that I would burden my community, I would have delayed the night prayer until a third of the night or half of the night had passed."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا أبو أسامة وعبد الله بن نمير عن عبيد الله عن سعيد بن أبي سعيد
قال رسول الله ﷺ لولا أن أشق على أمتي لأخرت صلاة العشاء إلى ثلث الليل أو نصف الليل
[Its chain is sahih] Tirmidhi reported it, in the Book of Prayer, chapter on what has been said regarding delaying the night prayer (Isha), no. 167, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Umar through this route, and he said, hasan sahih, and the hadith has other routes as well.
