I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Jibreel came down and led me in prayer. So I prayed with him, then I prayed with him, then I prayed with him, then I prayed with him, then I prayed with him," counting five prayers on his fingers.
حدثنا محمد بن رمح المصري أنبأنا الليث بن سعد عن ابن شهاب أنه كان قاعدا على مياثر عمر بن عبد العزيز في إمارته على المدينة ومعه عروة بن الزبير فأخر عمر العصر شيئا فقال له عروة أما إن جبريل نزل فصلى إمام رسول الله ﷺ فقال له عمر اعلم ما تقول يا عروة قال سمعت بشير بن أبي مسعود يقول سمعت
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول نزل جبريل فأمني فصليت معه ثم صليت معه ثم صليت معه ثم صليت معه ثم صليت معه يحسب بأصابعه خمس صلوات
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of the Beginning of Creation, chapter on the mention of the angels, peace and blessings of Allah be upon them, hadith no. 3221, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Mosques, chapter on the times of the five prayers, hadith no. 610, both from the hadith of Layth by this route. Muslim also narrated it from Muhammad bin Rumh and others.
