We were with the Prophet ﷺ as strong young men, and we learned faith before we learned the Quran. Then we learned the Quran, and our faith increased through it.
حدثنا علي بن محمد حدثنا وكيع حدثنا حماد بن نجيح وكان ثقة عن أبي عمران الجوني
كنا مع النبي ﷺ ونحن فتيان حزاورة فتعلمنا الإيمان قبل أن نتعلم القرآن ثم تعلمنا القرآن فازددنا به إيمانا
Its isnad is sahih. Tabarani reported it in Al-Kabir, 2/165, hadith 1678, from the hadith of Waki and others through it. Busiri said, this is a sahih isnad, its narrators are trustworthy.
