The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The bridge will be placed across the middle of Hell, set with thorns like the thorns of the Saadan plant. Then the people will be allowed to cross. Some will pass safely and unharmed, some will be torn by the thorns yet still escape, some will be held back by them, and others will be cast headlong into it."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة قال حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن محمد بن إسحق حدثني عبيد الله بن المغيرة
قال رسول الله ﷺ يقول يوضع الصراط بين ظهراني جهنم على حسك كحسك السعدان ثم يستجيز الناس فناج مسلم ومخدوج به ثم ناج ومحتبس به ومنكوس فيها
Sourcing, [its chain of transmission is hasan]. Ahmad narrated it, 11/3, from the hadith of Ibn Ishaq through this route, at length, and it contains a printing error. It is also found in Musannaf, 176/3, 177. Hakim graded it sahih according to the criteria of Muslim, 4/586, 585.
