The Prophet ﷺ said, "When one of you dies, his place is shown to him morning and evening. If he is among the people of Paradise, then from among the people of Paradise, and if he is among the people of the Fire, then from among the people of the Fire. It is said to him, 'This is your place until you are resurrected on the Day of Judgment.'"
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا عبد الله بن نمير حدثنا عبيد الله بن عمر عن نافع
عن النبي ﷺ قال إذا مات أحدكم عرض على مقعده بالغداة والعشي إن كان من أهل الجنة فمن أهل الجنة وإن كان من أهل النار فمن أهل النار يقال هذا مقعدك حتى تبعث يوم القيامة
[Its isnad is sahih]. Tirmidhi narrated it in the chapter on funerals, in the section on what has been said about the punishment of the grave, hadith no. 1072, from the hadith of Ubaydullah with this chain, and he said, hasan sahih. Bukhari also narrated it, hadith no. 1379, as did Muslim, hadith no. 2866, and others, from the hadith of Malik, from Nafi, with this chain, and it is also found in Muwatta, 1/239.
