The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I see what you do not see and I hear what you do not hear. The heaven has groaned, and it has every right to groan, for there is not a space of four fingers within it except that an angel is placing his forehead upon it in prostration to Allah. By Allah, if you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much, you would take no pleasure in women upon your beds, and you would go out into the open spaces crying out to Allah. By Allah, I wish I were a tree that is cut down."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة أنبأنا عبيد الله بن موسى أنبأنا إسرائيل عن إبراهيم بن مهاجر عن مجاهد عن مورق العجلي
قال رسول الله ﷺ إني أرى ما لا ترون وأسمع ما لا تسمعون إن السماء أطت وحق لها أن تئط ما فيها موضع أربع أصابع إلا وملك واضع جبهته ساجدا لله والله لو تعلمون ما أعلم لضحكتم قليلا ولبكيتم كثيرا وما تلذذتم بالنساء على الفرشات ولخرجتم إلى الصعدات تجأرون إلى الله والله لوددت أني كنت شجرة تعضد
[Hasan] Reported by Tirmidhi, Zuhd, chapter on what has been said about the Prophet's ﷺ statement, "If you knew what I know, you would laugh little," hadith no. 2312, from the hadith of Israil through this chain, and he said it is hasan gharib. I say, his statement "By Allah, I wish..." and so on is an interpolation from the statement of one of the narrators, and the rest of the hadith has corroborating reports.
